Southern Gateway Centre

After a big sigh of relief at finding our way through Sydney and negotiating the notorious traffic, we were keen to take a break and stretch our legs. The Southern Gateway Centre was a welcome sight, so we pulled in hoping there was room to park the caravan. It turned out that there was plenty of parking for big rigs and caravans, and heaps of car parks.

The Southern Gateway Centre is perched on the side of a mountain overlooking Woolongong, Port Kembla and surrounding districts. If you just stop to enjoy the view you won't be dissapointed, but there is also a cafe, toilets, and information centre.

We also had a short stop at the Nungarry rest area where we picked up a tray of yummy mangoes. As you can see by the photo below, he was doing a good trade with passing traffic! The mangoes were delicious!
