Dolphin Watching Cruise Nelson Bay Port Stephens NSW

Little Beach is Nelson Bays best kept secret. We dash up to Nelson Bay from Newcastle every chance we get. It's only about an hour or so from the big smoke and so peaceful and beautiful. We seem to keep coming back to the same caravan park - Halifax on Beach Road. It's a lovely park and the staff are friendly and welcoming.

Halifax is just a stones throw away from Little Beach which has its own boat ramp, sheltered bay and coffee shop at each end. What more could you want? I'm sounding a bit like a TV advert now, but it really is a very nice part of Australia.

Our grand daughter Hannah came to spend a couple of nights with us and we took her out on the Tamboi Queen to do some wild dolphin watching on Nelson Bay. It turned out to be one of the best days ever! She was sooo excited to see the dolphins. It was a real treat to see her enjoying herself so much.

We even got to see the dolphins feeding in their natural environment which was quite rare and very special to see. They are such beautiful creatures. A great day was had by all and I can definately recommend a cruise to go dolphin watching on Nelson Bay!

Our mascot 'KittyKat' also came along for the ride to meet all her new found aquatic friends. This crew member was a good sport and posed with Kitty for a photo shoot on board the Tamboi Queen.

We could have opted to go on one of the newer vessels for the cruise, but decided to choose the Tamboi Queen for its historical appeal. She was originally built in 1939 and is still going strong!

  1. Hi guys,

I've done a Tamboi Queen Cruises dolphin watch cruise and I do have to agree with you that they are the best! I went out on the MV Spirit - I had the most wonderful time! Will be writing a blog entry up for the trip!
