Maleny - Sunshine Coast Hinterland

Maleny, Qld.

Maleny is a pretty town in the Blackall Ranges overlooking the Sunshine Coast. Maleny is situated only 90klms from Brisbane and is a very popular scenic day trip for Brisbanites, especially on the weekends. There are quaint shops of all kinds lining the main street, including yummy cafes and restaurants for your dining pleasure!

While we were in the area we took a scenic drive to the 'Mary Cairncross' reserve. It is well signposted and there is a beautiful  lookout over the Glasshouse Mountains. There is also a beautiful rain forest walk for a gold coin donation, and a large car park with toilet, bbq and picnic area adjacent. A cafe is also close by for a coffee or light lunch.

The Maleny information centre is located in the main street, on the left hand side heading West, about mid way through the town. The volunteers do a great job, and love to help out with all the information you could ever need, on all the places to see and attractions to visit in the area.

Lake Baroon is nearby and has a huge recreation area with bbq, picnic and toilet facilities overlooking the picture perfect lake. If you need to stretch your legs, there is a track which is kept mowed around the lake shore with views of the surrounding scenery.
